The 2017 Charles City RAGBRAI executive committee is pleased to announce a grant opportunity for local projects. This year's RAGBRAI event was very successful and the committee realized a significant profit. To give back to the community, a total of $20,000 is being made available to help fund local community projects with a maximum award per project of $5,000. These projects are to be something tangible that people can enjoy for many years to come. Applications can be picked up at the chamber office at 401 N. Main Street or city hall at 105 Milwaukee Mall. The deadline for submittal is October 6, 2017 to the city clerk's office. Applicants will then be given a date and time to visit with the executive committee on their project and answer any questions the committee may have. Once all of the projects have been reviewed, the committee will make a decision on which projects to fund and those applicants will be notified. The project should be able to be completed within 18 months of the date of award. Fifty percent of the funds will be given up front with the remaining 50% paid upon project completion.
